Biking in Graeagle

Gear up for some great mountain biking experiences in Graeagle and the surrounding Eastern Plumas area, because there’s a variety of terrain to conquer, and you don’t have to be a seasoned cyclist to enjoy what’s out there. With miles of great biking treks from old logging and back country roads to designated trails, check out Mills Peak Lookout, Lake Davis Loop, Dixie Mountain or Crystal Peak.

Here’s the scoop on each ride. Mills Peak is about a 6-mile ride located in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area that can be made with moderate effort in approximately 1.5 hours. Lake Davis Loop is an 18-mile ride located around Lake Davis that is considered an easy ride and will take you about 2 hours to complete. Dixie Mountain is a loop ride to Frenchman Lake Lookout and is the longest trek at 15.6 miles and has a level of difficultly, and greater challenge. This ride could take you about 2 hours to complete. Then there’s Crystal Peak, located near Frenchman Lake is a 10.5 mile, moderate effort ride that might take 2 hours to complete.

Just in the Gold Lake area alone, mountain bikers have their choice with all levels of difficultly and duration with the following great rides: Bear Lake Loop, a moderate ride with 2-mile trek, Jamison Creek, a moderate ride with a 3-miles one way track, Frazier Falls Trail, an easy ride with 1-mile round trip trek, Round Lake Trail, a moderate ride with 2.4 mile trek to the Pacific Crest Trail, Mt. Elwell Trail, a difficult ride with 4.4-mile trek, Smith Lake Trail, a moderate ride with 2.5-mile trek to Jamison Creek Trial and Grey Eagle Creek Trial, a moderate ride with a 2.1 mile one way trek.
