The
school curriculum on a daily basis consists of a balanced combination
of developmentally appropriate activities from these subject areas:
arts, crafts, science, cooking, health, language development, physical
movement, music, drama, and literature. We also have frequent guest
speakers and field trips. We incorporate activities that are done
individually, in small groups and in a whole group. All children
and their family members are encouraged to offer suggestions for
possible activities and areas of exploration.

The
Graeagle Preschool is a nonprofit organization. Approximately 60%
of our funding comes from our six major fundraisers each year. The
preschool could not survive without the additional finances brought
in by our fundraisers. Our fundraisers are not profitable unless
we have plenty of volunteer help. Therefore we must require that
each parent fulfill a minimum of 5 fundraiser commitments each year.
We realize that this can be a major commitment throughout the year,
but in the past our parents have had fun and have formed great friendships
at these events. We believe you
will find the fundraisers to be a worthwhile use of your time. Parents
are also required to volunteer in the classroom ora as a weekend
cleaner 8 times during the year.
Mari
Hubert Director of the Graeagle Preschool, has a background
in Early Childhood Education and has taught in preschool classrooms
for several years. She enjoys hiking, camping, reading, gardening,
and recording childrens stories as they have related them to her.
As a teacher, Mari strives to instill a love of learning in each
child, provide a variety of educational experiences and help each
child develop a sense of self-confidence and self-worth. Mari practices
Lillian Katz's Project Approach in her classroom and believes in
following the National Association for the Education of Young Children's
guidelines for Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
Local
children have been enjoying preschool for the past 21 years inside
"The Little Red Schoolhouse." We are still in our original location
behind the Graeagle Park Green in downtown Graeagle. Many past parents
and students share fond memories of their days here, and are a continuing
support for the preschool. Friendships established in our preschool
often continue throughout the children's school experience. We would
love for you and your child to become part of our historical school.
At
Graeagle Preschool, we offer scholarships for families in need of
a little financial help. If you are interested in having your child
attend the Graeagle Preschool but can't quite afford the tuition,
please print and fill out this form
and return it to Miss Mari for further evaluation.
