This
former Country Inn on
the Middle Fork of the Feather River is now available
in its entirety to rent as a "vacation
rental". Twenty Mile House is ideal for a family
vacation or reunion, sleeping 10 persons
or 4 couples. This historic Inn has been a haven
to travelers since
1854, welcoming prospectors, pioneers and adventurers
who journeyed on the storied stage coach from the east–
being 20 miles from the previous stop and the limit the
horses could do in one day.
This unique property
appeals equally to anglers, mountain
bikers, Nordic skiers, golfers, hikers and those who
simply wish to relax in
a perfect Sierra setting. We offer the ambiance of the
historic old west and the magic provided by the proud
Middle Fork of the Feather River. Designated a Wild and
Scenic River by Congress in 1968, the Middle Fork is
home to native rainbow and brown trout. Private access
to two miles of river frontage assures good fishing right
at your doorstep.
We invite
you to experience a unique and memorable vacation while staying in this
beautiful home and create for yourselves
a relaxing and pleasurable holiday.
Warmly,

Barbara Gage

A
beautiful red brick structure, the
house has been carefully restored with decorative
fretwork and rich New England pine paneling. The
original hand crafted beams add additional warmth
to the cozy atmosphere created by the fireplaces
and carved Victorian furnishings. The interior consists
of an upstairs living room with large fireplace,
fully stocked kitchen and spacious dining area, 5
large bedrooms ( 2 with fireplaces) and 4 full bathrooms
including linens and towels and a laundry room. Outside
you will find wicker furniture on the long front
porch and Adirondack chairs on the lawn in the shade
of the many trees. Our 200 forested acres adjacent
to the river and 2 creeks assure your privacy and
seclusion amid wild flowers, wildlife and evergreens.

Located
on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Feather River, you'll find the Twenty Mile House an
ideal place for anglers. Designated a Wild Scenic
River
by Congress in 1968, the Middle Fork is home to native
rainbow and brown trout. Private access to two
miles of
river frontage assures good fishing right at your doorstep.
Two additional creeks, Jackson creek and 20-Mile
creek,
flow into the Middle Fork along our private stretch
of river. This means a variety of angling skills
can
be practiced
within a short walk of the Inn where fishing challenges
vary amid deep pools or boulder strewn canyons.
Our
single-barbless hook,
no bait, and catch and release policies, assure that
the end of season fishing is as exciting as the early
spring
hatches.

Tucked
into the northeast corner of the Sierra Nevadas, the surrounding area abounds with recreational
opportunities. Within a 15 mile radius, you'll find golf,
hiking, numerous lakes and streams, horseback riding,
mountain bike trails and much more. The Portola Railroad
Museum offers railroad history and the opportunity to
drive a real locomotive. Two championship golf courses
and two challenging nine hole courses are within eight
miles. Plumas Eureka State Park offers beautiful hiking
trails and fascinating mining history. At elevations of
6,500' to 8,000', the Lakes Basin Recreation Area is home
to over 40 natural alpine lakes and 11,000 acres of wilderness,
streams and trails including the Pacific Crest. Mountain
biking is a natural in Plumas County. Many unused logging
roads and jeep trails offer variety in both scenery and
terrain on and off the property.
There
is so much to do and see,
you'll find your stay too short. But that's okay with
us--we want you to come back and see us often.
