Welcome to the Diamond 'S' Ranch!
Our ranch museum showcases the tools and memorabilia of farming,
logging, ranching, and just plain living, from a time when food,
shelter and clothing were the main concerns for the valley's early
settlers.
After your museum visit, we'll jump on ATVs and take a two-to-three
hour ride on the ranch's 1,750 acres to see history as it happened.
Follow the route of the steam train that brought groceries and supplies
to the snowbound ranches in Carmen Valley, and moved wood from the
lumber camps and mills in the Calpine area to the main line in Sierra
Valley. Visit a large Maidu Indian grinding rock on the Feather River,
one of the few wild and scenic rivers left in California.
Now jump back on the ATVs, and keep your eyes and camera ready,
as the chances are high you'll see deer and other wildlife on the
climb up Beckwourth Peak.
By the time we get back to the barn, you'll
be tired, relaxed, and ready for a hearty meal, Santa Maria style
BBQ Tri-tip prepared from a recipe that originated in the oil fields
of California. We'll be cooking on The Big Green Egg, a modern version
of the ancient Japanese kamado, and you never tasted meat so good
and juicy
When your time with us is over, you'll leave with a smile on your
face, a happy tummy, and a few items from our gift shop to remind
you of time well spent.
By exploring the history and beauty of our area, you can help our
family to keep this land for our children and grandchildren and to
preserve this extraordinary valley for future generations. Come enjoy
the experience! |
