Shime: basic mat techniques

Shime is a list of 25 basic techniques that teach the principles of handling an opponent on the ground. It includes a number of basic chokes/strangles, locks, and mat pinning techniques. In no way does this list constitute the entirety of endless mat techniques. But, again each one of these techniques is a gateway to a world of variations that combine certain principles. Effectively combining these principles requires a lot of practice, and the ability to timely recognize opportunities and to adapt to an opponent's moves. - After practicing these techniques for a while, one may understand that Shime is applied Yawara and Nage on the ground.
