2006 GRAND MARSHALS

John & Marian Sciborski

File written by Adobe Photoshop® 5.2

The Sciborski’s moved to Graeagle from Santa Rosa in 1994. John immediately became involved with the Graeagle Men’s Golf Club because of his love for the game. As in most organizations, good hard work over a period of years can and did lead to his election as president. In a similar manner, John has become the Chairman of the Plumas County Solid Waste Management Advisory Committee, Chairman of the Graeagle Fireboard and President of the Plumas Eureka State Park Association. In addition, he plays a major role in the Mohawk Valley Independence Day Parade, has supervised major improvements to the museum at Plumas Eureka State Park and is actively involved in bonsai activities. His background as a civil engineer and his hobbies of woodworking, bonsai and golf have provided him with skills that can be and are extremely helpful. Adding to his skills, he is a gourmet chef.

Marian has served as President of the Graeagle Property Owners’ Association, has primary responsibility for the Mohawk Valley Independence Day Program, is a docent and Treasurer of the Plumas Eureka State Park Association, Director of the Yukiyami Bonsai Kai club in Reno, was a member of the Niner’s Golf Club, belongs to a local walking group, the Walkie Talkies and is active in several bridge groups.

Our thanks to the Sciborski’s for the many ways they have contributed to the comfort and enjoyment of their neighbors and the community in general.

COMMUNITY APPRECIATION AWARD

This year we are honoring the TAHOE FOREST HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS. These caring and compassionate volunteers make a difference in the lives of patients and their families by providing respite for the caregiver, companionship to the patient and practical help to the family. Hospice volunteers attend an initial 25 hour training program and many have completed an additional 10 hours of training on grief and bereavement. They also attend monthly educational me     ings to augment their education. The dedication and commitment of these volunteers is inspiring and we are proud of their contribution to our community. Tahoe Forest Hospice specializes in promoting emotional, spiritual and physical well being utilizing an interdisciplinary team approach consisting of a Medical Director, Nurses, Nurse Aides, Social Worker, Therapies, Bereavement and Spiritual Counseling and volunteers. A training program for new volunteers will be offered beginning July 25, 2006. If you are interested, please contact Theresa Hall, 530-582-3534.

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SPONSORS OF THE

MOHAWK VALLEY INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION,

Our sincere thanks to all who help sponsor this event through your generous donations. Without your support these Independence Day events would not be possible.

Fund raising, it seems, is the most challenging aspect of any organized event. It is very gratifying when so many community members, organizations, businesses, property owners, and individuals demonstrate their unified support. It shows you care about the quality of life and the future of your community.

We wish also to thank those of you who support the MVID events through participation in the various fund-raising events.
