Millie Smith

Millie moved to Graeagle from Carmel 29 years ago. Upon arriving, she worked in the hospital clinic for 12 years and was instrumental in the development of Nifty Thrifty, the hospital auxiliary store. She has been a docent at Plumas Eureka State Park for over twenty years, receiving the docent of the year award for her service. She was a member of the Plumas County Commission on Aging as well as an advisor on the area Council on Aging which covers five counties. She was also a member of the Advisory Board for the Community Care Council. She received the “Women of the Year Award” of Eastern Plumas County. She was instrumental in getting the Mohawk Resource Center established and was an active member. To add to her list of accomplishments, she was a member of the Ladies Elks Society and a Hospice Volunteer. Her latest venture has been the establishment of “Millie’s Sierra Red Hatters”, a social organization for women over 50. She just recently moved to Montague, Ca. to be near one of her children.
